The sport of gentlemen

I was just thinking about a time when perhaps shooting rivaled or even surpassed golf as the sport of choice for gentlemen.

Mrs. DiGiorgio's high school actually had a Rifle Team. But that was circa 1983 in San Diego, with a deep supply of talent from military families. No such luck in the LAUSD where Big Education reigns. I must agree with Monsieur Cadwalader that shooting as a sport should rival such popular leagues as NASCAR and that sport where the local LA team recently signed an infamous player from across the pond. I believe there are still shooting events in the olympics for now, it must have slipped passed the PC activists. One of Frank Digiorgio's own most admired historical figures, General Patton, actually won a medal in the Olympics in the pentathalon, which at the time included shooting. But I think that event has been replaced with Ballroom Dancing. Which reminds me, maybe we should push for a new reality show: "Shooting with the Stars."
Our own contributor, Hoyt Clagwell was mentioned on my favorite radio station, KFXM 96.7. The old DJ was reminiscing about Green Acres. You can't dial into the station outside the Antelope Valley, but I think you could find a streaming feed on the internet....Recommended by Frank DiGiorgio, Antelope Valley Taxpayer.
