I don't agree that you can equate socialism with the liberal agenda in general. People like myself believe in capitalism with a conscience. Free markets with the caveat that an affluent society should let its citizens starve.

Is that so wrong? Is that too much to ask?

Um, I mean, "shouldn't let its citizens starve."

Now can I get a response (3 weeks later)?

Capitalism w/a conscience is not socialism (if so explain your melding and how it could possibly retain the "Socialism" tag) as such, the statment remains true.

It is you who meddled the "entire left-wing agenda" with socialism. It is I who endeavors to categorize them as seperate.

Perhaps you could enumerate all the instances where liberalism embraces free market principles?

Start with France. Expand to the EU. And pull your head out of your....

France???

No, praguetwin,,, the examples you give are examples of where the Virus has not yet killed the host.

Please enumerate all the instances where liberalism embraces free market principles and site specific examples.

Define liberalism

Lysander Cadwalader said...

Liberalism as used in this context attempts to exert control on other people’s resources to affect social change.

Some examples are:

Minimum Wage laws
Affirmative Action
Social Security
Welfare etc.

Do you agree that these are liberal notions?

By your definition, not mine, nor the classic definition of liberalism.

Your definition of liberalism is basically socialism.

As this thread starts out, they are not the same.

As for concrete examples of those who embrace liberalism as well as free-market practices, you could start with the Economist, and myself.

And as to France, despite the regulations and socialist policies, it is most certainly a free-market economy.

Yeah, it is the "liberals" who are killing the host.

See for yourself.

You crack me up!

Well,,, I'm glad that you concur that much of the major Democrat party platform is socialist in nature.... It tickles me,,, really it does...

Since you contend that my use of the word "liberal" is not the accepted standard in American political discourse,,, why don't you enlighten us as to the words proper use and meaning?
